Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention Program: Is it Reaching Rural and Rural Minority Women?
Project Investigators:
Project PI:
Susan Carozza, PhD
Project Overview: The purpose of this study is to examine the CDC-funded National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program data in order to examine rural/urban differences among participants in the program. Preliminary analyses of the Early Detection Program are scheduled to be complemented by a follow up telephone survey of participants from 1996 to identify characteristics of participants related to participation in subsequent mammography screening. While not included in this study, project staff will also explore the feasibility of a follow up study that would allow for comparing urban and rural populations on participation rates. Specifically, staff will explore the feasibility of geo-coding participant data from the CDC-funded program which could be combined with information from census and other sources to establish a data base for conducting ecological studies of characteristics of the program, counties, or regions associated with participation.
