Project Overview:

The Rural Healthy People 2010 reviews research literature and models for practice on rural health areas among the Healthy People 2010 focus areas and objectives.  Ten focus areas and selected objectives therein were selected, principally, according to priority ratings provided in the survey responses by the state and local rural health leaders. The initial 18 month project (across year 1 and 2) included an survey of selected national, state, and local rural health leaders, intensive literature reviews of the top priority areas, as well as, selection and analysis of initial models for practice in those priority areas. For the 2002-2003 project year, the RHP2010 program proposes to address two other focus areas, ranked 13 and 14 by the survey respondents - immunization and infectious diseases, and injury and violence prevention. Literature review for these two areas will be added to the RHP2010 website along with summaries of related models for practice. At the same time, additional models for practice for the focus areas and objectives covered in the prior year will be added to the RHP2010 website.
