Rural Healthy People 2010 Expansion: Public Health Infrastructure, Education and Community-based Programs, and Access to Long-Term Care
Project Investigators: Project PI: Larry Gamm, PhD
Project Overview: RHP2010 serves as a resource to policy makers at the local, regional, state, and national level by prioritizing the top rural health concerns, identifying the unique rural/urban disparities, barriers, and populations at risk; and highlighting effective models of practice that address these rural health issues. The proposed project builds on the work initiated in 2001 and continued through 2003 which concluded with the publication and dissemination of Rural Healthy People 2010: A Companion Document to Healthy People 2010 (two volumes). The purpose of this project is to expand on the work on Healthy People 2010 by focusing on the rural constituency and document any associated disparities, barriers, and solutions unique to rural America, looking particularly at those issues not yet addressed: Long-term care, Education and Community-based Programs, and Public Health Infrastructure.
Project Funding Source: Office of Rural Health Policy
Project Term: September 2003 - August 2004
Project Reports: Three new chapters have been added to Rural Healthy People 2010: A Companion Document to Healthy People 2010, Volume 3.
