Epidemiology and Biostatistics Faculty Positions

The School of Rural Public Health is seeking two biostatisticians for tenure track positions in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.  These positions are 12-month, open-rank, and state-funded with a start date of August  2010.  Applicants are expected to hold an earned Ph.D., Sc.D., or equivalent degree in biostatistics or statistics.  Applicants with interest in cancer prevention and treatment, rural health, health disparities and obesity, global public health, environmental and water quality areas are strongly encouraged to apply. These positions will be expected to contribute to the research, teaching and service mission of the Department and the School.

Current departmental statistical expertise is in biological processes, statistical genetics, survival and longitudinal data analysis, and statistical computing.  Faculty members actively collaborate with colleagues in the College of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, and other departments of the school. There are also close collaborations with the Department of Statistics at Texas A&M University with the potential for joint appointments.

The School of Rural Public Health invites applications for an epidemiologist to join a productive and collegial faculty in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. This position is a full-time (12-month) tenure-track faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level, with a start date of August 2010.  Applicants are expected to hold a PhD, DrPH, or ScD in epidemiology or an MD with an MPH (epidemiology) from an accredited school of public health or equivalent training. Successful candidates are expected to develop an independent epidemiology research program in cancer, genetics/gene-environment interactions, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and reproductive or other health outcomes. This position will be expected to contribute to the research, teaching, and service mission of the Department and the School.

 

 Exciting opportunities exist to work on projects and collaborate with existing faculty on multiple ongoing research projects in epidemiology, including reproductive and perinatal studies, environmental and occupational exposures and health outcomes, geospatial modeling, alcohol and substance abuse impacts, and disaster management.  Faculty members actively collaborate with colleagues in the College of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, and other departments of the School.
