Dr. Burdine is professor and associate dean for public health practice at the school and is immediate past speaker of the TAMHSC Faculty Senate. He formerly served as head of the Department of Health Promotion and Community Health Sciences.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Burdine has been awarded $27.9 million in grants and contracts. He has co-edited four special issues of journals, co-authored five book chapters, authored or co-authored 41 peer-reviewed publications, and authored/co-authored 44 technical reports and papers. He also has authored or co-authored 242 presentations at national and international professional meetings.
Dr. Burdine has held offices with national professional organizations; is a member of the Delta Omega Public Health Honor Society; received awards for Excellence in Practice from the TAMHSC-School of Rural Public Health and faculty recognition in teaching from his department; and serves as an advisor to numerous national health-related organizations, federal and state agencies and as a reviewer for major public health professional journals.
Prior to joining the faculty in 2001, Dr. Burdine served as the president and senior scientist of Felix, Burdine and Associates, a nationally recognized health care consulting firm (1992-2001) and was in senior management positions with health care delivery systems in Texas and Pennsylvania (1982-1992).
