Texas Healthy Lifestyles
Background:
Launched in 2006 by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS), Texas Healthy Lifestyles seeks to improve the health and quality of life for aging Texans.
Initially supported by a three-year grant from the Administration on Aging (AoA), as well as the collaborated efforts of the National Council on Aging (NCOA), several Texas Health and Human Services agencies, and community partners. Texas Healthy Lifestyles promotes evidence-based health activities among aging Texans and their communities.
The programs offered within Texas Healthy Lifestyles serve Texans by providing information about the risks associated with disease and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Texans can learn to take control of their lives, thereby reducing the risk of disease and disability.
